Now look away from the picture and write down everything you can remember.
How many did you remember? What technique did you use to memorise?
Reading: read the following techniques on memorising words. If you're studying in a group then read one technique each and explain it to he group.

Now use your method (or choose a method) to memorise the set of words again. Write down all the words you can now remember.
Which method do you think is the most effective? Why?
Memory task:
You now have a new set of 12 words to memorise (taken from the book Tricks of the Mind - Derren Brown)

Look at the words for a minute. Again write down all you can remember.
You will now have the pages from the book which explain the visualisation method.
You can either read this yourself, or have somebody explain it to you, or explain it to someone else. Either way, make sure you are taking the time to really visualise each image.

If you're a teacher, then really make an effort to get your students imagining each scenario - try to remember the story you're telling before class to make this more effective.
Then write down the words you remember - in order. Hopefully you will all be surprised at how well this works!
If it doesn't you can discuss/write down why it didn't work, what a better technique would be.
Finish by trying to memorise another set of words (maybe from the vocabulary you need from your book. Use this visualisation technique and try to get someone else to memorise the words using your images.
